This will be a Band Booster meeting to be held on Monday, November 22, 2010 at 7pm in the auditorium. We will go over a few items with regard to band booster business, but the main item will be discussion by Mr. Hogard regarding band trip in the spring to Branson. If your child is going to attend this trip, then parent attendance to this meeting is mandatory, as per Mr. Hogard.

We will have sunglasses there if anyone wishes to purchase any at that time.

First meeting – September 2

We will hold our first band booster meeting on Thursday, September 2, at 6pm (or shortly thereafter) in the AUDITORIUM. The band will be playing at the football game that evening, and they will need to meet at 6pm in the band room. We ask that parents stick around and report to the auditorium for our first meeting of the year. Our main items of business are to let you know what we have in mind for an initial fundraiser, and to vote on proposed changes to the bylaws as recommended by special committee. Below are the proposed changes (if you want to see our current bylaws, go to our website at bearcatband.org , click on the “about” page, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Bylaws”).

Proposed changes to the bylaws:

Article VI, Section 1 shall be changed to read: Meetings will be held as necessary, at the recommendation of the President. Meeting times shall be e-mailed to all members who have made their e-mail addresses available to the band boosters. Meeting times shall also be posted on the band booster website at bearcatband.org on the public calendar, as well as on the band boosters Facebook page.

Article X, Section 4 shall be changed to read: Scholarships to band camp will be paid as a reimbursement to the band member upon completion of band camp. The following documentation must be presented by the band member to the band boosters in order to receive scholarship funds: canceled check made payable to band camp, receipts and/or invoices reflecting payment, certificate of completion, e-mail confirmation of payment received by the band camp, or any other acceptable document proving that the band member completed camp. Upon receipt of the documentation to the band boosters, reimbursement will be made to the band member.

Article X, Section 5 will be deleted.

Don’t forget that we are still looking for volunteers to assist in various ways with the Fall Festival! Again it will be held on Saturday, October 24, from 10a – 3p. Booth set up begins at 8a. Please contact Jo Hanke if you have any questions about the fall festival. She is also the person to contact about booth rental – we still have spots available!!!! This is your chance to rent a booth and join in on the fun.

News! Meeting times & Fall Festival.

The Band Boosters will be hosting a Fall Festival on Saturday, October 24 in the middle school parking lot from 10a – 3p. We need volunteers to help assist with booths (a few floaters to relieve other parents, and a few to run game booths) as well as students to help their parents. We also will be having our own “Yard Sale” booth so we need donations (money raised from your donated yard sale items will go into the Band Booster funds). Other items we are looking for: Kid Meal toys or stuffed animals (in good shape) to give away as prizes. Please contact Jo Hanke if you have any questions. Her email address is jo@bearcatband.org.

A vote was held at our September meeting to start holding our regular monthly meetings on the first Monday of the month at 6:15pm. The next meeting will be October 5, 2009 at 6:15pm in the band room. Minutes from the September meeting will be available on the website by the end of the week.

School has started!

We hope everyone had a good first (half) week of school! Now it is time for the Band Boosters to be ready to help the band. We will have a table set up at Open House tomorrow night. First Lesson Night will be September 1 at 6pm and our September meeting will be September 8 at 6:30pm. Everything is listed on the calendar – just click the link above.

The Band Booster officer encourage all of you to attend our September meeting, as well as supporting our band students! We will be hosting a Fall Festival on October 24, and it will take each and everyone of us to make it successful! So we will see you all on September 8.
